Pepperoni, Green Olives and Feta Pizza

Pepperoni, Green Olives & Feta Pizza
Yield:   1 large pizza (6-8 slices) or 3 individual pizzas
Cook Time:   10-15 minutes
Tips:   You can adjust the amount of toppings according to your personal preference.
Suggestion:   Delicious served with a salad.
Pepperoni is perhaps on the top of the list when it comes to a popularity contest of pizza toppings. Granted, this is probably due to the salty and peppery flavor of pepperoni as well as the way it crisps around the edges while the pizza bakes, creating a wonderful chewy and crispy texture. Perhaps another reason pepperoni is so popular is
because of its versatility, and how well it can blend with all sorts of other topping ingredients.

This Pepperoni, Green Olives & Feta cheese (plain or herbed feta cheese may be used) pizza recipe presents yet another fabulous way to celebrate pepperoni. Due to my appreciation for pepperoni, green olives and feta cheese, I decided to create a pizza with a combination of these three ingredients (along with a traditional base of pizza sauce and grated mozzarella cheese), and now consider this one of my all-time favorite pizzas. The photo above shows this pizza made to my personal liking, but you can certainly increase or reduce the amount of each ingredient to your own specific taste. Depending on how much time you have to spare, you can either make your own homemade pizza dough or purchase frozen unbaked or already-baked pizza dough at the grocery store. Homemade pizza dough is very easy and fun to make - it just requires some time for the dough to rise.

Ingredients

  • Any pizza dough recipe (or frozen or baked store-bought pizza dough)

  • (Note: All pizza ingredients, including sauce, can be adjusted according to your personal preference. The following ingredients were used for the pizza in the photo shown above.)

  • 1/3 - 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/3 - 1/2 cup green olives, sliced
  • 1/3 - 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • about 30 pepperoni slices
  • Parmesan cheese

Directions

Preheat oven to 400° F.

If using homemade pizza dough, choose a pizza dough recipe from the Pizza Dough recipe page, and prepare dough according to directions. If using premade, store-bought pizza dough, have ready near work area.

Apply pizza sauce to dough, spreading around evenly with a rubber spatula or the back of a large spoon. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly all over top. Add pepperoni slices, then green olives, then feta cheese chunks. Sprinkle top with Parmesan cheese and place in oven (top rack for less crunchy crust, middle rack for more crunchy crust). Bake for 10-15 minutes or until edges of pizza are beginning to turn brown and top of pizza has some areas showing browning. Serve immediately.
